This new build barn-style house is a scheme for a family on a site comprising 15 self- build plots in South Norfolk.
The client was keen for a house with a strong, simple form, and a very limited material palette, resulting in this pared back larch clad house, with the timber cladding continuing over all surfaces including the roof. Some interest and texture were added to the entrance recess in the form of clay tiles.
This house was designed around the need for wheelchair access and changing future requirements, with a flexible internal layout including extra wide doorways, lift provision and easy circulation routes.
