Swallow Barn was originally converted from an agricultural building around a decade before our clients purchased it in 2023. While full of character, the layout no longer reflected the way they wanted to live, so together we set out to carefully reimagine the house through a series of considered alterations rather than wholesale change, coupled with a full internal refinish.
The design combines sensitive internal remodelling with a number of modest extensions, creating a home that feels both more generous and more connected to its surroundings. A separate garage and workshop, along with a self-contained annexe, provide practical flexibility, while dramatic glazed doors open the main living spaces onto the garden. The new additions, including a cosy sitting room and a generous boot room, introduce quieter, more intimate spaces that bring warmth, functionality and balance to everyday family life, as well as dramatic spaces for the display of the client's extensive art collection.
